Week 7 #16 & 17

I listened to the audio on Wikinomics for about 1 hour. It is interesting how Wiki is being used in organisations. The leadership in a collaborative community is also different in that it is one of encouragement and inclusion. Thus, promoting more participation. It also offers opportunities for the introverted to express their ideas and share with others.

Many examples on Wikis in Education. However, I have yet to spend time to explore its
suitablity in incorporating it into my teaching.

The Sandbox, requires a log in password. Therefore, I was not able to access.

Opinions, comments and views could be expressed in Wiki and for the students they may not be able to discern what is right and what is wrong. Tutors/Lecturers will have to moderate the discussions.

Wikis seemed appropriate for distance learning and less so for classroom teaching where students prefer to face- t0-face discussions.

Have fun with Wikis!

Week 6 #13, #14 and #15

#13: Learn about tagging and discover Del.icio.us

I found the amount of information overwhelming. Bookmarking requires time to categorise when you have a large number of wedsites to source.

Therefore, it has the potential to be used for efficient organising of website search.

#14: Explore Technorati and learn how tags work with blog posts.

Found Technorati well organised and easy to navigate. Abundant blogs to access into.

However, when I typed "Classroom learning 2.0" the keyword search did not work.

The videos were also interesting.

#15: Copyright, Creative Commons and What's coming Down the Web2.0 Road

The video "A Fair(y) Use Tale" was entertaining and informative.

Also read the copyright comic book developed by students at Duke University Law School. Very enlightening. However, found some of the wordings a little small.

Could not access the YouTube view on "Wanna Work Together" about Creative Commons.

Well it looks like we are on the road to more users creating their own content even in Library 2.0.

Having to read from the computer screen for 2 hours or more is very tiring due to small wordings and limitation of the screen space.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to facilitators and classmates of Classroom 2.0.

With warmest regards,

Dorene

Week 5 #12 Roll your own search tool

I tried creating a Search box but to no avail. Was in the Search Roll and then tried to link it to my blog and was not successful.

If there is the RSS reader. I do not think that the rollyo will be useful unless you do regular searches at regular websites.

Winter wonderland, have a look and feel the cold!!!!

Winter

My experience with RSS & News reader.

Had a good time exploring Topix.net. I liked the screen design and the ease in navigating to different sites for news and vieo clips.
